NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The Nashville Predators are trying to find ways to keep fans in Bridgestone Arena during the NHL lockout.

Tonight, the team hosted a minor league game between the Knoxville Ice Bears and Huntsville Havoc.

The Predators say it's an effort to keep hockey on the minds of fans while the lockout continues.

The Nashville Predators' Executive Vice President Chris Parker said, "We want them to stay engaged. We want to thank them for their commitment to us during this period of time during the lockout and at the end of the day, we want to expose those people to hockey."

The Predators announced just over 6,000 fans attended the game tonight.

The NHL has canceled regular season games through Nov. 1.
