LAVERGNE, TN (WSMV) -
Two Rutherford County teenagers are being praised for helping reunite a lost boy with his family.
Cynthia Ornelas and her brother, Humberto, were on their way to La Vergne High School on Thursday, when they spotted a 4-year-old child crying in the street.
A family friend had been driving the boy to pre-school when he stopped in La Vergne to pick up another child.
The boy, who is from Antioch, slipped out of the minivan to play with a bike and was accidentally left behind.
The child was so frightened he couldn't remember his last name, his parent's names or where he lived. The teens who found the boy drove him to a nearby fire station.
The driver told police he didn't realize the boy was missing until later that afternoon when he went to pick the kids up from pre-school. He then called the boy's parents and police.
Officers connected the cases and realized it was the same child. The driver won't face any charges.
The city of La Vergne plans to recognize the teens in a ceremony next month.
