NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A driver was arrested after police said he hit a Metro school bus Friday afternoon and left the scene.

Police said the bus, which had nine special needs students on board, was rear ended at 2:25 p.m. by a Honda Odyssey minivan at the intersection of Murfreesboro Pike and Bell Road.

The driver of the van, later identified as Charles Higginbotham, 27, of Antioch, fled the scene on Murfreesboro Pike.

Police caught up to the van and stopped it at a K-Mart located at Murfreesboro Pike and Edge-O-Lake Drive.

Higginbotham will be charged with leaving the scene of crash, driving on a revoked license and failure to appear in court on a previously issued citation for driving on a revoked license.

No one on the bus was hurt.
