NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
A resident has his pet dog to thank for alerting him about a fire Thursday morning.
The blaze occurred at about 8:20 a.m. in the 600 block of Malta Drive.
When crews arrived, smoke and flames were coming out of a front window. A resident had been lying down when his dog stated barking, alerting him about the fire.
Firefighters quickly arrived and extinguished the flames in about 10 minutes.
A district chief said it's not clear how the fire started, but there is smoke and water damage to the home.
