NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Three people were injured when a car collided into a building Wednesday afternoon in the Whites Creek area after shots were reportedly fired between two vehicles.

Police said two cars were driving side by side, bumping each other, before a Dodge Charger wrecked into the Precision Plumbing building at the 7100 block of Old Hickory Boulevard just after 12:30 p.m.

The driver of the Charger, Charles Cartmell V, 30, allegedly tried to stash about a pound of marijuana, but officers found it nearby.

Cartmell also had a handgun in his pocket and a second handgun was recovered nearby, police said.

The driver of a Pontiac G6, Davon Hicks, 24, fled from his vehicle on foot but was also arrested.

Cartmell, along with two employees from inside the building, were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

Cartmell faces felony drug and weapons charges once he is released.

Hicks was interviewed and released without charges, police said.

No one was struck by the gunfire, and the investigation continues into what led up to the shots fired.
