NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
A man wanted in connection with a domestic violence case was arrested Wednesday morning after jumping into the Cumberland River to avoid police.
Investigators said Christopher Dixon was running from them when he crashed into a stone wall near the Woodland Street Bridge.
From there he went down the embankment and swam across the river. Police finally pulled him out of the river near the Marathon Oil facility.
According to court documents, investigators said the situation started at a bar with a female friend.
Witnesses tell police they saw Dixon slap her, grab her by the hair and throw her into his vehicle twice.
Dixon is charged with domestic assault, evading arrest and other offenses.
