COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Putnam County Commission has voted unanimously to place the national motto "In God We Trust" on all four sides of the county courthouse.
The commission vote Monday night approved a recommendation made by its planning committee last week.
The Cookeville Herald-Citizen reported two local sign companies have volunteered to install the 18-inch-high letters at no cost and several local business owners have said they will cover the materials cost.
The motto will be placed in a 24-inch space above the columns at each entrance to the century-old courthouse.
No timetable for completion of the project was announced.
