MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -

A former MTSU graduate left a large donation to his alma mater.

Ken Shipp, MTSU class of 1947, put in his will a $3.5 million bequest to the fund he set up for Rutherford County students. Shipp was a huge supporter of Blue Raider Athletics.

By Tuesday, the scholarship fund had more than $4 million in it.

Shipp coached in the NFL, famously benching Joe Namath in 1975 and leading the New Orleans Saints with Archie Manning.
