
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) - Trabis Ward ran for four touchdowns, including three in the fourth quarter, to help Tennessee State beat SE Missouri 40-28 to remain undefeated.
Ward's first touchdown was a 7-yard run in the second quarter. He followed that up with three more in the fourth, including a 30-yard run with 1:26 remaining in the game. Ward had 43 carries for 267 yards. Michael German was 17 of 27 for 154 yards.
Levi Terrell scored two touchdowns for SE Missouri, including a 52-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Scott Lathrop had a hand in two touchdowns - a 13-yard run in the first quarter and an 8-yard pass to Paul McRoberts in the fourth. Lathrop was 17 of 26 for 222 yards for SE Missouri (2-4, 1-2 Ohio Valley). He also had 21 carries for 145 yards.
Tennessee State (7-0, 3-0, Ohio Valley) is off to its best start since 2001.
