MOUNT PLEASANT, TN (WSMV) -
Detectives are investigating possible threats against a 12-year-old girl and her family after the quarterback and two other members of the Mt. Pleasant High School football team were arrested and charged with rape.
Princeton Harlan, 18, and two juveniles, ages 16 and 17, were accused this week of having sex with the girl.
Extra security will be present for Mt. Pleasant's football game Friday evening after hearing of the possible threats made against her and her family.
"It was just toward the family and her. I'm not going to go into detail about what was said," said Maury County Sheriff's Det. Tony Bailey.
Bailey said the 12-year-old victim became pregnant after having consensual sex with the three teens. The pregnancy was terminated, and investigators are processing DNA evidence to determine paternity.
Harlan was booked into the Maury County Jail and released after posting a $100,000 bond Wednesday.
Harlan had been considered one of the top high school recruits in Middle Tennessee, but he likely won't be playing again for Mt. Pleasant because part of his bond conditions restricts him from being around anyone under 16 years old.
Channel 4 News has learned Harlan has a girlfriend in her late 30s. She has a 13-year-old daughter, and as part of his bond conditions Harlan is not supposed to be at his girlfriend's home if her young daughter is there.
The Department of Children's Services is now involved in the case.
