HOPKINSVILLE, KY (WSMV) -
Police in Hopkinsville on Friday named three suspects in connection with the shooting of an 8-year-old girl Wednesday night.
The child, Janesha Lizardi, was hit by a bullet while inside her home on Durrett Avenue.
The child is recovering at an area hospital and has a surgery scheduled to have the bullet removed from her side.
Investigators are looking for Malcom Rashaad Wright, Zachary Michael Lane and Mitchell Louis Wallace in the case.
The child's grandmother, Louvenia Wilford, was also grazed by a bullet in the drive-by shooting in the 1400 block of Durrett Avenue but not seriously hurt.
"When I felt something hit my back, that's when I went to the floor," Wilford said.
Wilford had just brought her grandchildren over to sister's house to play with their cousins. Six children were inside when at least a dozen bullets started blowing holes in the front of the house.
Janesha was struck in the abdomen, and her grandmother was grazed on the back.
"She could've got killed. I could've. I'm not worried about me. I'm worried about her," Wilford said.
Hopkinsville police say the kids and their grandparents were innocent victims of a shooting targeting someone else, but no arrests have been made.
A $2,000 reward for information leading to an arrest is being offered in the case.
