A Metro councilman is urging Davidson County transportation leaders to change the types of buses you see driving on roads across Nashville.
James Bruce Stanley said he's introducing a resolution that asks both Metro schools and the Metro Transit Authority to switch to hybrid electric buses.
Stanley said the fuel needed to keep those buses running is a huge expense to taxpayers and the environment.
About 650 buses are in the Metro school's fleet, while MTA has about 130.
The resolution does not estimate how much replacing all those buses would cost, but Stanley said federal grants and fuel savings make it a good idea.
