NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The presidential election is less than a month away, and millions of Americans will turn their attention this week to the vice presidential debate.

That includes one Nashville 13-year-old who loves to follow politics and loves to write.

Ben Frigon will get a chance to do both Thursday as a special correspondent for the Scholastic News Kids Press Corps.

While debate analysis is easy to find on any news channel, the Ensworth seventh grader can hold his own, too.

"I want to cover news on TV as a correspondent and go to exotic places and cover major events. That's really exciting to me," Frigon said.

Danville, KY, may not be exotic, but Frigon will be there to write about Vice President Joe Biden and Congressman Paul Ryan.

He is not yet old enough to vote, but in Frigon's mature mind the coming election is hardly kids' stuff.

"It's important for our future. The decisions they make today are going to affect us 20 years from now when we're adults, so politics really is important for kids, too," he said.

Frigon already has election coverage experience, including interviews with former presidential hopefuls Newt Gingrich and Herman Cain.
