A south Nashville nightclub declared a public nuisance and padlocked by police last week will remain closed.
Yea Baby's, on Murfreesboro Road near Kermit Drive, was shuttered, due to what police said was persistent fighting, assaults, drug crimes, other law violations and breaches of the peace at the site.
During a hearing in criminal court Thursday, attorneys for the club operator and property owner agreed to terminate the club's lease.
Police reported more than 270 service calls to 1204 Murfreesboro Pike and an additional 366 service calls to the intersection at Murfreesboro Pike and Kermit Drive over the past year. Many of those calls included shootings, reports of shots fired and complaints from neighbors about disorderly conduct.
Last month, police said two groups of men began shooting back and forth when the club was closing for the night around 2:30 a.m. About 50 shots were fired, and dozens of innocent bystanders ran for cover.
Javon Young, 21, Cedric Doss, 20, and Dantarius Hancock, 18, were shot, and police said the victims may have been caught in the crossfire and were not involved in the shooting.
Three semiautomatic handguns were recovered near the scene of the shooting, which may have stemmed from an argument inside the nightclub.
Different Name, Same Problems
From 2010 to mid-2011, the club was called Silverado's and had similar violence. Police responded to the club nearly 200 times, including five shootings.
Last year a judge declared Silverado's a public nuisance and temporarily shut it down because of the trouble it caused when violence spilled over to neighboring businesses.
