Oak Grove residents told to boil water on Monday

Posted: Updated:

People living in a part of Oak Grove are advised to boil their water on Monday after a water main repair may have contaminated the supply.

The advisory was first issued Thursday morning but lifted in the afternoon.   The notice applies to people on the west end of Walter Garret Lane, near Fort Campbell Boulevard, and the Mace Lane area.

The Oak Grove Utilities Office said they are repairing a main near Mace Lane, but so far no contamination has been confirmed. After the line is repaired, crews will flush fresh water through and take samples for testing.

The advisory tells customers to bring water to a rolling boil, let it boil for three minutes then let it cool before using it for drinking, brushing teeth, washing dishes, preparing food or making ice.

The Kentucky Division of Water will tell the office when the advisory can be lifted.

Officials said there's no evidence the water's been contaminated, but on Monday, they suggest boiling water before using it for cooking or to drink.
