NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
The board of fair commissioners is meeting Tuesday to talk about the future of the state fairgrounds.
At a public meeting Monday night, neighbors weighed in on possible uses for the site.
Some like the idea of a grocery store, restaurants and entertainment. Many also said they didn't like the idea of strip malls, big box stores or offices.
Others want to keep it as the home for the state fair.
"I think they're listening. I don't think anyone's sure what's going on or what's going to happen. I'm a huge supporter of the save the fairgrounds coalition. I would love to see it stay," said neighbor Lee Shacklett.
This is the second phase of a fairgrounds redevelopment plan, which is meant to assess what people might want if there is a new mixed-development use for the property.
