NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
A little girl is fighting for her life after a violent crash Sunday night.
Police said Gina Elkins, 34, of Columbia, TN, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck east on Old Hickory Boulevard near Granny White Pike when she left the roadway and collided with a tree at 7:20 p.m.
Elkins was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Her daughter, Addlyn Elkins, 4, who was seat- belted in a booster seat behind the driver, was also transported to Vanderbilt where she is in critical condition.
Elkins said that she was not familiar with the pickup truck and as she was attempting to locate controls for the windshield wipers, causing her to crash.
