TN Guard to have anti-suicide training after death - WSMV Channel 4

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee National Guard has scheduled suicide prevention training after a unit commander in East Tennessee took his life this week.
The Citizen Tribune newspaper reported that Capt. Thomas Gilley, the commanding officer of the 190th Combat Engineering Company, shot himself to death at his home Wednesday. Gilley had returned from a deployment to Afghanistan about six months ago.
Maj. Gen. Max Haston, Tennessee's adjutant general, announced in a news release Friday that every unit in the Tennessee National Guard will stand down during October to conduct suicide prevention training. The release didn't mention Gilley's death and said suicide prevention had been a priority since 2008.
The U.S. Army conducted a nationwide stand down on the topic on Thursday to deal with a spike in suicides.
