PLEASANT VIEW, TN (WSMV) -
Police have identified the woman found beaten to death inside her Cheatham County home.
Donna Bandy, 57, was found dead at a home in the 2600 block of Goodsprings Road on Friday morning in Pleasant View.
Family members said they had not heard from Bandy since Wednesday evening. Police said they were doing a welfare check on the woman when they found her body in a bathroom closet.
Investigators then initiated a search for her vehicle, which disappeared from her home.
Incidentally, Springfield Police in neighboring Robertson County found that car in a field by a Taco Bell restaurant.
They also found Bandy's ex-husband David Monk, who was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication.
Reportedly, Monk had blood on him, and he was transported to the jail in Cheatham County on Friday afternoon for questioning on an auto theft warrant and, presumably, his ex-wife's murder.
Bandy and Monk had divorced just more than one week ago.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting local police in the case, which Pleasant View Police Chief Michael Douglas said is the first homicide in the community in at least 10 years.
