NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A late-night shooting Sunday has left one person dead.

The victim identified as Eric Swanson, 30, was walking on Lewis Street when he was shot around 10:45 p.m.  He ran to his girlfriend's residence nearby.

While on the back porch, a red vehicle pulled up and transported Swanson to the VA Hospital.  The person in the red car did not stay with the victim.

From there, Swanson was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died during surgery. Police were notified of the shooting by Vanderbilt.

Through tips, police found a blood trail at J.C. Napier where they believe the shooting occurred. Police think drugs or gang-related activity may be involved.

Anyone with information on the shooting of Swanson is asked to contact Hermitage Precinct Detective Andrew Injaychock at 862-7749 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
