Mikia Woodland
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
Two men charged in connection with the death of a 12-year-old girl were found not guilty of first-degree murder Friday.
Cedric Peppers and Justin Howard were accused of forcing their way into a home on Maury Street in July 2009 and fatally shooting Mikia Woodland.
Mikia's grandmother was confronted by several men who broke into the home. As the grandmother was on the phone calling police, she heard gunshots and found Mikia was shot.
The jury deliberated for several hours on Thursday but could not reach a verdict until Friday morning.
Ronald Roseman, who was 17 years old at the time of the shooting, pleaded guilty earlier this year to second-degree murder and is serving a 20-year sentence in the case.
Two other defendants still have charges pending in this case.
