Crime Stoppers: Target Burglary

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WRCB-TV) - Target on Gunbarrel Road, became just that early the morning of August 7th. This is not your run-of-the-mill case of petty shoplifting. This was an organized hit.

Surveillance video shows a man break the glass in the front door. "A total of four black males enter the business," explained Chattanooga Police Officer Daniel Jones. "And once they enter the business, they actually go straight back toward the electronics."

The pictures are clear, but this crime team has done a good job with disguises. "The only thing we've got of the individuals is actually covers over the top of their head," said Off. Jones.

They take aim for some popular hand-held devices, and they take them in bulk. The smash through a glass case to get to some of the packages. "Some of them actually wore some socks over their hands to try to disguise their fingerprints," added Jones.

It was a well-orchestrated hit. The four spent only a few short minutes in the store, then high-tailed it back outside. "They all came out of the same vehicle," said Jones. "It was a silver, well, what we believe was a silver or light colored SUV."

There are pictures of their getaway. They show what appears to be a Ford or Mercury SUV and, perhaps, evidence that this wasn't their first crime of this type. It looks as though a T-shirt has been draped over the license plate in an attempt to obscure it from detection.

Put the pieces together and earn some reward cash. We are looking four black males thought to be between 18 and 25-years old, a silver SUV. Can you pair that information with the shirts and parkas they seem to be wearing to hide their identities?

Maybe you just bought an in-the-box Apple "i-something," on the cheap. Be suspicious.

Or, perhaps you have heard something. "They're gonna brag to somebody about this," Off. Jones said. "And when they do, that's the person that needs to call us and say, 'Hey, this individual told me that they had broke into Target and saw themselves on TV.'"

Your good tip could be the key to up to a thousand dollars reward money. Call Crime Stoppers: 698-3333. As always, an officer may answer your call, but you will never have to reveal your identity.
