Victim critically hurt in East Nashville shooting

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Metro police officers were called to a shooting Wednesday evening at a housing complex in East Nashville.

The shooting was reported just after 8 p.m. in the 600 block of South Fifth Street.

Officers found a man who had been shot several times, and medics rushed him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition.

Witnesses told police they heard the shots, and then saw several people running from the area.

The victim's name hasn't been released, and investigators have not released information on any possible suspects.
