BLAINE, Tenn. (AP) - A 14-year-old boy has died in a fall from a cliff in Grainger County.
Sheriff Scott Layel told The Knoxville News Sentinel the victim was Dustin Michael Dalton of Blaine.
Layel said the youth fell about 40 feet onto rocks in the incident at 12:08 p.m. Sunday and sustained a head injury.
Deputies and EMTs attempted to save Dalton's life after they reached him, but the boy was pronounced dead upon arrival at a hospital.
An autopsy has been ordered, and an investigation continues.
