CLARKSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Clarksville police have arrested a man on charges of robbing his friend and stealing his SUV over the weekend.

According to Officer Jim Knoll, police were called Saturday afternoon to investigate a robbery which occurred early that morning at a home on Ringgold Road.

Police said the 43-year-old victim and a witness reported the victim got into an argument with his friend, Keno Holmes.

As the victim was leaving the home, police said Holmes came up from behind and hit the victim in the back of the head and kicked him when he fell to the ground.

Police said Holmes took the man's debit card, cell phone and car keys. Holmes then allegedly left in the victim's 2006 Ford Escape.

The victim then told police he went to his home in Oak Grove, KY, to have his injuries treated and to call Holmes to try to convince him to return the property.

According to investigators, the victim was unsuccessful and contacted police.

Knoll said officers believed Holmes would return to the Ringgold Road address, so they set up surveillance. Police spotted the stolen vehicle, which they said was driven by Holmes.

Officers approached Holmes and said they found the victim's stolen property in his possession.

Holmes was arrested Sunday morning on charges of robbery and theft of property, police said.

Holmes is currently on probation for a drug-related charge out of another county, Knoll said.
