Mother accused of abandoning teenage son

CLARKSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A mom accused of child abuse, neglect and reckless endangerment turned herself into police Monday.

Clarksville police issued a warrant for Cheryl Simpson, 42, of Woodlawn, TN, over the weekend.

Her 16-year-old son told authorities that Simpson abandoned him.

Simpson faces several charges including leaving the scene of the accident. She has already bonded out of jail.

The teen's father lives in Ohio and was headed to Tennessee to pick him up.
