NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
While the violence continues to escalate overseas, local Muslim leaders are carrying a different tone.
On Sunday night, the organization Muslim Youth of Nashville held a peace vigil on West End.
Organizers condemned the attacks on U.S. embassies saying their religion isn't one of hate. They said the ongoing violence doesn't honor their religion but defames it.
"What they're doing over there right now with the protests and violence, that's not Islam. By killing, murdering and attacking people, you're insulting (Mohammed) much more than a movie ever could," said Asad Ansari with the Muslim Youth of Nashville.
Those who attended the vigil said Islam should be a religion of unity, not divisiveness.
