General Motors settles lawsuit against US government

SPRING HILL, TN (WSMV) -

As crews get back to work Monday at the General Motors plant in Spring Hill, they are getting news about what could be an added benefit.

The automaker has settled its lawsuit with the federal government over Social Security taxes paid by the company over the last few years.

According to our news partners at the Daily Herald, the settlement could mean individual payments between $24 to $340 for employees, depending on the circumstances surrounding their hiring.

The amount owed to Spring Hill workers wasn't clear, because union officials have not commented about the settlement.
