NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Two people were injured when they were burned by acid Wednesday at a south Nashville business near Nashville International Airport.

According to fire officials, the two employees were injured when a 55-gallon drum holding sulfuric acid fell when one of the employees opened a door.

The incident occurred at Embraer Aircraft Maintenance Services, 10 Airways Blvd., which adjoins the airport.

One employee suffered burns on his head and hands. The second employee suffered burns to his hands while trying to help the other employee. The injuries are not critical. One victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center while the second was transported to Summit Medical Center.

Embraer officials said there is no risk to anyone else at the facility, and an internal investigation is under way to determine the cause of the incident.
