FRANKLIN, TN (WSMV) -
A Franklin man is charged with burglary after he allegedly tried to enter an apartment Sunday in broad daylight while the residents were home.
Charles Mathis III, 24, is charged with attempted aggravated burglary and resisting arrest after police said a couple watching television inside their Alara Brook apartment heard someone trying to open a patio window. When they checked it out, the window screen had been removed and a man was seen running away.
Police later found Mathis, who fit the suspect's description, standing in a nearby apartment with the door open.
Investigators said Mathis had a notebook that contained detailed information about people's movements and times, along with descriptions about their vehicles.
He is jailed on $11,500 bond and a hearing is set for Sept. 20.
