The community is saying goodbye to members of a Bellevue family.

It has been more than a week since a mother, son and grandmother were stabbed to death in their own home, and friends and loved ones filled the Williamson Memorial Funeral Home on Monday to pay their respects.

Police are still trying to piece together this puzzle. Investigators believe Craig Garber stabbed neighbors Marylea Jordan, 71, her daughter Michelle Pinkowski and Pinkowski's son, Jonathan Culpepper, 14, early Sept. 2 at their Beach Bend Drive home.

"It's crazy that someone would do that for no reason. It's really sad," said friend Kinnedy Ervin.

Monday, mourners chose to remember better times. Adam Faragalli was Jonathan's Big Brother in the nationwide program that provides mentors for young people.

"Me and him had similar interests. He loved video games. He loved to be outside to go on hikes in Percy Warner Park," Faragalli said.

Ervin was Jonathan's classmate at Hillwood High School and said there is a lot she will miss about him.

"His personality. He had a really good personality," Ervin said.

Jonathan's Boy Scout troop served as pallbearers during the funeral, and as the three caskets drove off for burial, members of the Boy Scout troop were close behind.

Hundreds of mourners gathered Saturday for a candlelight vigil in Bellevue at Red Caboose Park.

And a fund has been established for Pinkowski's 9-year-old daughter, who witnessed the scene. Contributions can be made by visiting any Bank of America branch and asking for the Mike and Cynthia Jordan Fund. Also, checks made payable to the Harpeth Valley PTO Burial and Benevolence Fund will be accepted at:

Harpeth Valley Elementary School
7840 Learning Ln.
Nashville, TN 37221

Also Monday, Garber was officially booked into the Metro jail after treatment at local hospitals for what police believe were self-inflicted stab wounds after the murders.

Garber, 41, is charged with three counts of criminal homicide and is jailed on $1 million bond.
