JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (WRCB) -- Jacksonville State running back Washaun Ealey will miss Saturday's game against the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga after being arrested Wednesday morning on drug possession charges.

Ealey, a former University of Georgia tailback, was arrested at 7:24 a.m. CT after university officers searched his on-campus apartment in response to a noise complaint, per a report from The Anniston Star newspaper. The senior starter was charged with second-degree marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdeameanors, and later released.

Ealey was suspended indefinitely, and is expected to miss at least two games.

"This is a violation of team policy," JSU athletics director Warren Koegel told the Star. "He's suspended for this game against Chattanooga and we're going through the proper channels according to the policy.

"Obviously this is a concern and we're dealing with it. He will not play."

Ealey rushed for more than 1,000 yards last year after transferring to the Ohio Valley Conference school from UGA.

He started last week's season-opening loss to Arkansas, but gained just nine yards on four carries before leaving with a knee injury.
