FRANKLIN, TN (WSMV) -

Franklin police said a man from Brentwood threatened to shoot an officer early Monday morning following his arrest outside of a convenience store.

The incident occurred around 2:50 a.m. at a Tiger Mart on Cool Springs Boulevard when there were reports of an impaired couple at the location.

Police said a woman in the driver's seat of a vehicle, Tonya Gendreau, 35, of Clarksville, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence after officers determined that she was impaired.

Authorities said her passenger, Spencer Hill, 25, of Brentwood, TN, then became combative and told officers, who were attempting to detain him, that he may have a gun.

After a brief struggle, Hill was taken into custody.

While on his way to jail, police said he repeatedly uttered racial slurs to the arresting officer, and told the officer that he was going to put a bullet in him.

No weapon was found on Hill at the time of his arrest, but he did tell the arresting officer that he is a gun collector.

Gendreau is charged with DUI and is free on a $1,500 bond.

Hill is charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest. He is also free on a $1,500 bond.
