NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
Jermico Amon was in his north Nashville driveway sitting in his cab, when suddenly, a masked gunman with two accomplices approached him.
The demand was simple - open the car door. Amon had just seconds to make a decision. Even more frightening, his wife and children were just a few yards away inside the family home.
"He's still banging on the car window, and I said, 'Calm down,'" said Amon.
With one quick motion, Amon quickly locked the car doors. Luckily the car was still running. At that point he tried to put as much distance between himself and the gunman.
"I put the car in reverse, pressed the gas, I'm out of here. I don't want them to get in my house," said Amon.
The gunman managed to fire three shots as Amon pulled away. One bullet hit Amon in the hip. He pointed to a bullet hole on the side of his cab
"This is the bullet hole, it went through the door, hit the seat where I was sitting and landed in my hip," said Amon.
The bullet remains in his hip since doctors determined it didn't pose a health hazard.
Amon is adamant that had he given in to the gunman's demands the outcome of the frightening encounter would have had a much different ending.
