Detective turns to Facebook to shame criminals

HENDERSONVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

You may use Facebook to keep in touch with all your friends while others use it as a business tool.

Ron Miller, a private detective in Hendersonville, uses Facebook in a unique way. He uses the social media network to talk about people he thinks should be in jail.

Miller was a community corrections officer for many years. Now he's a private detective who specializes in background checks.

One day after reading about a crime in the paper, he decided to look into the criminal's past.

"I was amazed at what little information," said Miller. "I did a background check on him and, again, as always, I was astounded by the amount of arrests. It's just a revolving door that no one understands or cares about."

Here's a sample of a man recently arrested where Miller expanded on the story.

Mr. Harvey has accumulated 81 criminal charges in Davidson County that include five felony convictions for burglary of a motor vehicle. Harvey is not employed and spends most of his time breaking the law.

"It's still just astounding to me to see career criminals by the thousands," said Miller.

Miller may be unable to find the budget, but he does a good job researching bad guys. These are full professional background checks that no one is paying for, and it's all current stuff.

"Alan Beverly was recently shot. Miller wants you to understand he's not really a victim," wrote Miller in a report.

Beverly, 25, has 35 total charges, 13 dismissed, 14 convictions and shot in three places.

It's a lot of work for Miller, but it's a labor of love - well, tough love anyway.

"I don't dislike the people. I don't dislike the people in the courthouse," said Miller. "I just look at what's going on and know what an outlet for people to know there's no end to this. It is an endless process and people are being hurt and killed.

"I love talking about it and I love putting it on Facebook. I'm not going to libel anybody. Until the day I die I'm going to post these things on Facebook and I wish somebody could tell me why they can't put the bad guys in jail."

If you're interested in the Villain of the Week, go on Facebook and friend Ron W. Miller. But be warned, you had better have a clean record.
