Dog fed through air conditioning vent for months

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Animal activists are demanding answers after an abandoned dog was rescued at a motel over the weekend.

Laurie Green said she was picking up a client at the Ravin Motel on Brick Church Pike when she heard a dog barking from a boarded up room.

When she asked other guests about the commotion, they learned the dog had been locked up in the room for nearly two months.

The guests had been feeding it through the air conditioning vent to keep the animal alive.

"This is an example of abandonment.  First the owners abandoned the dog, and then the portion of the hotel that the dog was in was boarded up.  He was abandoned a second time," said Green.

The dog was rescued and taken to a shelter for medical attention.

Green said she hopes to find a permanent home for the dog.
