ERIN, TN (WSMV) -
An Erin woman said ever since the lottery came to Tennessee, she's occasionally bought a ticket. Never in her wildest dreams did she think she'd end up a $250,000 winner.
"It still hasn't sunk in," said Linda Lamberth. "I'm still waking up thinking, what bill do I have to pay this week?"
At the Erin Piggly Wiggly, Lamberth's known as a hard worker who keeps up with all the latest local buzz at her checkout lane.
"You hear bad things and you hear good things, but you get to share it all with them," said Lamberth.
Friday, the big buzz at Lamberth's checkout lane was Lamberth herself.
Just days ago, Lamberth got a call telling her she was the winner of a $250,000 Tennessee Education Lottery Drawing.
"I couldn't talk," said Lamberth. "My family was just screaming in the background. I had to ask them to quit screaming so I could hear her on the telephone."
Despite winning the $250,000, Lamberth said she has no intention of quitting her job at Piggly Wiggly. So far, she's paid off her house and bought a new car, but she's not certain where the rest of her winnings will go.
"I'll probably spend a lot of it," Lamberth laughed. "I enjoy spending money."
Being a hard worker is just who she is, and according to Lamberth, no number of zeros on the check is going to change that.
"I've worked all my life," said Lamberth. "I was 16 when I went to work. That's basically all I know. I don't know if I'd feel right if I weren't getting up to go to work. I'm just taking each day as it comes."
Lamberth said she won her $250,000 through the "Play it Again" drawing. That game gives lottery players a second shot at winning off tickets that didn't pay off the first time.
