MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -
The Federal government has shut down another Middle Tennessee horse-trucking operation, saying it was a "disguised reincarnation" of Three Angels Farms.
Three Angels Farms of Lebanon was shut down in June after regulators said it was an imminent danger to the public. Two different trailers loaded with horses wrecked on the interstate earlier this year, killing a total of four horses and tying up traffic for hours.
Federal trucking regulators shut down Terri's Farm in Murfreesboro Friday, saying the company is operated and controlled by the same owner as Three Angels Farms, Dorian G. Ayache.
A federal investigation concluded Ayache has continued to use Terri's Farm to haul horses to Presidio, TX, where they're held for slaughter in Mexico. The report says Terri's Farm used Ayache's trucks and trailers for the trips, after Ayache transferred the titles to Terri's Farm without any money being exchanged.
Federal officials have found repeated safety violations on the trucks.
Federal inspectors wrote that "Terri's Farm is managed and controlled by Dorian G. Ayache," and that Ayache himself drives some of the trucks, does the dispatching, collects his customers' payments, plans the routes, buys the fuel and pays the drivers.
Terri's Farm, regulator said, "attempts to evade safety regulations" and is a "disguised reincarnation of Three Angels Farms."
No one answered the door Friday at Terri's Farms. Someone who identified themselves as a tenant in one of her rental properties said Terri, whose name is Theresa Vincent, went to the hospital with pneumonia.
A man who identified himself as Terri Vincent's partner, Larry Montgomery, said in an email that Vincent was mislead and lied to by Ayache, and that Vincent severed her business relationship with Ayache. Montgomery said Vincent and Ayache had been friends for 20 years.
