NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
People living in Nashville public housing will have to put out their cigarettes at the end of this week.
The Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency is banning smoking in all its high-rise buildings starting Sept. 1.
Residents will only be allowed to light-up outside the building in the designated areas.
The properties include Parthenon Towers, Hadlet Park Towers, Madison Towers and others.
The MDHA says they've told residents about the new rules for the past 18 months.
Two-hundred residents have already taken programs to help them stop smoking.
