Crossing guard said parent threatened to run her over
MOUNT JULIET, TN (WSMV) -
A school crossing guard said her life was threatened by the parent of a child she was there to protect, and it was all because she was just doing her job by slowing down traffic.
Cheryl Johnson said she was directing cars outside West Elementary School in Mt. Juliet last week when a parent got so angry about waiting in traffic she got out of her car, cursed at Johnson and threatened to run her over.
The threats even allegedly included racially insensitive language against Johnson, who is white.
Johnson said it was the third time she has been threatened by that same parent.
"I was just nervous. I've never had anything like that happen to me," Johnson said.
School officials said they had warned the mother in the past about making threats. Police have now issued a warrant for the woman's arrest and plan to charge her with intimidation.
