A mother was arrested Tuesday afternoon after police said she repeatedly hit her 11-year-old daughter for burning a sandwich.

Police were called to a home on Poppy Drive around 6 p.m. regarding child abuse.

When police arrived, they found a child had been cooking grilled cheese sandwiches and accidentally burned one of them.

Investigators said the mother, Christina Ann Reaves, 34, of Clarksville, TN, admitted to getting angry and hitting the child repeatedly in the face. Police said the girl had knuckle marks and visible bruises, said police.

The father was not at the residence when the assault occurred.

Reaves is charged with child abuse/neglect. Her bond is set at $5,000.
