GOODLETTSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
Hundreds of people in Goodlettsville watched as the All-Stars clinched the U.S. National Championship title.
Supporters crowded around TVs and packed sports bars across Middle Tennessee just to watch the All-Stars shine. Nowhere was the crowd bigger than at Incredible Dave's in Goodlettsville.
Ray Emmett made sure he got to Incredible Dave's early to get a good seat.
"It's as big as the Titans going to the Super Bowl," he said.
It may not have been LP Field or the crowd as large, but today's National Little League Championship had all the energy of a major league showdown.
"It was a real exciting game," Jacob Crawford recalled.
Jon Luke went to support his former teammates.
"Very excited because they've won so many games and I've watched almost all of them," Luke said.
Hundreds of people packed Incredible Dave's in Goodlettsville Saturday to watch the All-Stars take on Petaluma. The team had already beaten Petaluma in the Quarter Finals.
An excited Shirley Farmer said, "They're gonna win and they're gonna go. They're gonna play their little hearts out."
But Petaluma wouldn't go down without a fight, and it caused some anxious moments for hometown fans.
"They had a little struggle in the sixth inning with their pitching but they settled down and pulled through," Crawford said.
And pull through they did. The All-Stars fought back from a 15-15 tie in the sixth inning, crushing Petaluma 24 to 16.
Shirley Farmer spoke for everyone in the room, " We are so proud. So so proud of them."
Saturday's watch party wasn't just an opportunity for fans to watch the game together. Incredible Dave's donated 15 percent of the day's food sales to the Goodlettsville Little League to help pay for expenses. Wednesday, Outback Steakhouse at Rivergate will donate 20 percent of its sales to the team. That event is from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
