NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
All lanes of Interstate 40 westbound have reopened in west Nashville
after multiple vehicles wrecked near exit 196 in Bellevue Thursday
morning.
The first crash occurred at 10:30 a.m. after police said a tractor-trailer had trouble slowing down in enough time for construction in the area. This resulted in the semi crashing into cables along the median of the interstate.
A second tractor-trailer couldn't slow down and hit a Lexus, critically injuring a woman.
The backup stretched for several hours Thursday until the lanes were reopened just before 4 p.m.
