LEWISBURG, TN (WSMV) -

A Huntsville, AL, man faces an attempted homicide charge after a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper was involved in an officer-involved shooting in Marshall County.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Trooper Jon Judge had pulled over a car along Highway 431 south of Lewisburg late Monday. The driver of the car, Walter Lee Hicks Jr., 52, of Mastin Lake Road in Huntsville, failed to produce a driver's license and gave a false identity.

The trooper then attempted to make an arrest when Hicks fled and dragged the officer a short distance. During the incident, the trooper opened fire and shot the driver in the arm.

Authorities in nearby Lincoln County set up a roadblock and arrested Hicks, who was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The trooper suffered minor injuries.

Hicks was jailed in Lewisburg without bond until a court hearing is set, according to the TBI.
