Putnam Co. to raise property tax; school funding still an issue

COOKEVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The Putnam County school board may have to consider cuts at its next meeting.

On Monday night, county commissioners approved a 2 1/2-cent property tax increase to support education.

The school district was hoping to see a 5-cent increase.

The plan still leaves about a $300,000 gap in the current spending plan.
