State inquiring about primary election problems in Nashville

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The state elections coordinator is asking the Davidson County Election Commission to elaborate on problems with the wrong electronic ballot being loaded for voters in the Aug. 2 primary.

According to records obtained by The Associated Press through an open records request, Tennessee Election Coordinator Mark Goins sent a letter to the Davidson County administrator of elections on Friday after receiving a complaint that a voter was given an incorrect primary ballot.

The letter requests that the county provide details on whether any voters reported receiving the wrong primary ballot and whether the issue was corrected.

Among those complaining about being given the wrong ballot during the Aug. 2 primary were state Sen. Joe Haynes, D-Goodlettsville.
