TULLAHOMA, TN (WSMV) -

Franklin County Sheriff Tim Fuller told Channel 4 News of a possible break in the murder of Megan Sharpton. The 24-year-old nursing student was found by a passing driver July 3. She was murdered and her body was set on fire to cover up the crime.

Fuller said investigators from his department searched a mobile home between Tullahoma and Manchester. Cadavar dogs led them there, but Fuller didn't elaborate how they were led to the residence or what evidence they discovered.

Fuller said the evidence is with the Franklin County District Attorney's office, who will decide if and when an arrest is made

"He wouldn't give us a time frame as to when he wants to seek charges. We are at a point right now where we feel we are very close to a conclusion in the investigation," Fuller said.

Sharpton's mother, Kelly Sharpton, has kept track of the days and hours that have passed since she first learned of her daughter's murder.

"Forty two days and 10 hours," Kelly Sharpton said.

It's the news she has been waiting for, but she is anxious for the district attorney to move faster with an arrest.

"I hope the district attorney will look at the evidence they have, and go ahead with the arrest," Kelly Sharpton said.

When Channel 4 News asked Fuller if he is confident that he has a solid case he said, "We feel confident."

Investigators still want to hear from anyone who might have new clues in Megan Sharpton's murder. The number to call is 1-800-TBI-FIND.
