Murfreesboro looks to improve public transportation

Posted: Updated:
MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -

Leaders in Murfreesboro hope more buses and more seats will improve public transit in the city.

Over the next few months, they want to buy nine new buses to use for the "Rover" service.

Our partners at the Daily News Journal report the new buses can carry 23 people.

That bus program has been up and running since 2007 and operates on weekdays.

The federal government is giving nearly a million dollars in grant money to help with the upgrades.
