COLUMBIA, TN (WSMV) -
Maury County's budget director is off the job as of Wednesday after being fired by the budget committee.
Jim Bracken had been budget director since 2008, but in a split vote Tuesday night committee members decided to force him out.
Our partners at The Columbia Daily Herald report the commission claimed Bracken didn't communicate well and was condescending at times.
His supporters say Bracken found ways to save Maury County hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The commission voted to continue to pay Bracken through the end of the month.
