NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A veteran Metro police officer has been decommissioned following his arrest Sunday on misdemeanor domestic assault.

Albert Ridgeway, 36, is accused of pushing down his girlfriend several times during an argument at their Mt. Juliet home. Police said Ridgeway's girlfriend reported the incident to Mt. Juliet officers, who arrested Ridgeway.

Ridgeway, who works in the Central Precinct, is a six-year veteran officer.

Ridgeway is the second Metro officer arrested Sunday. Robert Shouse, 39, is charged with aggravated trespassing and public intoxication after he allegedly tried to enter his neighbor's home on Oak Knoll Drive. He knocked on a 35-year-old woman's door and said he was a police officer and needed to come inside.

The woman said Shouse appeared dazed and that a struggle ensued over the door as she tried to shut it. The door handle broke, prompting the victim to run from her home.

The woman screamed for help as she saw Shouse briefly enter the residence.

An on-duty officer arrived on the scene, saw Shouse outside the townhome development and took him into custody.

Shouse, who graduated from police training academy only two weeks ago, had been working with a field training officer on the East Precinct's overnight shift.

Both Ridgeway and Shouse have had their badges and guns confiscated while the cases against them are under investigation.

"The alleged actions and continued employment of these two individuals are being closely reviewed by this police department," said Metro Police Chief Steve Anderson, in a press release.
